There is hope yet.

So over the weekend I got to talk to some GMs about some Eve and non-Eve stuff. Turns out the GMs get to actually play the game much more than I thought. One thing that came up was my annoyance with the bookmark system. You see, I dream of a day where newbros can make money in large nullsec alliances by contributing to things like perch packs, recon, moon scanning – stuff that doesn’t just pour ISK into your wallet by default but is a huge help to the alliance.

To that end, one of the GMs suggested I take it up with the dev team – apparently they get ignored when they make suggestions. So I did that, and I’m pretty optimistic considering the subsequent replies from the dev team.

I can’t say I’m too surprised as CCP has been known to incorporate player ideas in the past, but even the interaction is nice. Having a developer that cares about the player experience enough that they actively respond to suggestions via social media (a dangerous prospect for some developers, *cough* EA *cough*) is a pretty awesome.

Fingers crossed – I just want similar functionality out of my super advanced space ship as I get out of my smart phone. Is that so much to ask?

  1. GMs for any game actually play a lot. When I was a GM for Warhammer Online, we played everyday. WE had free accounts, infact, I still do. And they are right, the Devs never listen to the GMs. Remmeber one day the devs came down look for ideas and we asked for some bling of sorts. One dev goes, “what about a mug?” I reply, “Ok, but what does it do?” He replys, “Nothing.” “Nothing?” I say, “That’s not what a play wants, a mug that does nothing, why would you want a mug?” Dev – “So I can look cool!” I replied, “Your a idiot and need to be fired.” 2 weeks later, I was laid off and there was a mug put into the game, that did nothing.

Bookmarking as is makes no sense. It’s more like a treasure map you can’t even share with your alts.
